KDP Bulletin, 15 Sept. ’21

Welcome to the KDP Bulletin.  This week we start off with some big news….

Farewell to Jacky
This Friday, 17th September, Jacky will leave KDP as our Development Officer.
Jacky has worked tirelessly over the past 6 years to nurture a fledgling organisation to a position where KDP provides a high level of support to organisations within the Kincardine and Mearns area. Her commitment to building community resilience will be sorely missed, and extremely hard to replace.
Jacky will continue her work with the Third Sector Strategy Group and has committed to work with KDP to complete a number of outstanding projects.
I’m sure you’d like to join us in wishing Jacky all the best in her new position with the Fly Cup in Inverurie, and the very best wishes for her future happiness.
KDP remains committed to supporting our communities, so please get in touch if we can help you in any way.
Ron Sharp-Chair, KDP

Mind Yer Mind
Mental Health and Wellbeing is an important contribution to our wellbeing in Aberdeenshire as we recover from and live with COVID-19.
Most often mental health focus is on services and the challenges of accessing the right service at the right time. Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership (ACPP) recognises that to help reduce the burden on services and to promote a mentally flourishing Aberdeenshire action needs to be taken early. Research indicates that a few simple actions can go a long way to promote mental wellbeing, prevent poor mental health, reducing stigma and promote recovery.
ACPP has commissioned a community mental wellbeing campaign #mindyermind to highlight five internationally recognised steps to mental wellbeing:
staying connected to people, learning new things, take notice – remember the simple things that give you joy, carrying out acts of giving and kindness and taking part in physical activity.
mind yer mind live is a free to attend, interactive, online event for anyone who wants to know more about looking after their mental wellbeing.
5 mental wellbeing ambassadors will join for some interesting discussions and stories around how they look after their mental wellbeing, as well as answering questions that you might have. The ambassadors are:

  • Dame Evelyn Glennie – ‘Learning’
  • Hannah Miley – ‘Active’
  • Simon Maryan – ‘Taking Notice’
  • Lee Morrison – ‘Connections’
  • Isobel Gregory, AKA ‘Grandma Griggly’ – ‘Giving’

Survey – Historic Environment and Heritage of the Region

Good morning

In response to a recommendation from the Planning & Environment Service Member Officer Working Group (MOWG) in October 2020 for public consultation, the Archaeology Service has created a survey for residents of, and visitors to, Aberdeenshire to understand how people view, value and experience the historic environment and heritage of the region.

The survey also aims to:

  • discover more about which sites in Aberdeenshire people feel connected to or consider to be the most important to them
  • understand how people engage with heritage and the historic environment
  • find out if people know about the Council’s Archaeology Service and how we currently promote the historic environment
  • help guide future directions for promotion of the historic environment by the Archaeology Service

Hosted on the Council’s Engage portal, the survey is open for responses from the 1st to 30th September 2021, to coincide with Scottish Archaeology Month and Doors Open Days.

Link to survey: https://engage.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/archaeology/survey_tools/aberdeenshire-historic-environment-survey

It would be great to hear your views.

Kind Regards
