The NKRCC recently submitted a response to the planning application for the Formation of 20m x 20m Concrete Slab for Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Training and Installation of 2 Storage Containers. The key concerns were related to the visual and light pollution impacts.

Young Carer Grant
The Young Carer Grant has been designed to support young carers aged 16, 17 and 18 during a significant transitional period of their life, to access the same opportunities as their non-caring peers.
As this new benefit targets a demographic who may not have interacted with Social Security Scotland before, they would appreciate any assistance to raise awareness of this benefit to ensure the money reaches those who are eligible.

Charles Hayward Foundation
The small grant programme currently awards grants in the following categories for charities with an income of less than £350,000:

• Social & Criminal Justice
• Older People

Generally, they value projects that develop, expand and replicate a tried and tested approach but are also interested in supporting creative solutions to problems which seem to be entrenched and elude resolution.
They value projects that are preventative and provide early intervention.
Grants are valued up to £7,000.

The CAF Tourle Foundation Fund
This fund seeks to award grants to local charitable organisations delivering services for local people in all parts of the UK.
The target audience are small place based charitable organisations providing a service to the heart of their communities.
Organisations applying must:

• Be applying for up to £5,000
• Be providing a service to the heart of their community
• Be a community charitable organisation whose reach is within a localised area
• Be able to demonstrate the need of the project
• Have an income below £75,000
• Have charitable aims and objectives.

Aberdeenshire Public Health Foodskills Funding
This funding aims to support communities to promote and provide healthier food initiatives in Aberdeenshire for children and/or adults. This follows on from “A healthier future: Scotland’s diet and healthy weight delivery plan” set out by Scottish Government to work with partners across all sectors to help people make healthier choices around food.
Applicants are invited to apply for up to £200 to help community organisations and groups towards a new or existing project.

Aberdeenshire Council Bus Review
The Council is undertaking a ‘clean-sheet’ review of the local bus, and dial-a-bus, services that it financially supports, to assist the decision-making on how to prioritise spend.
A survey seeking the views of Aberdeenshire residents and communities to identify travel priorities and preferences is being launched later this month. It is vital that the consultation survey attracts not just existing passenger transport service users but engages with as wide an audience as possible in order to help the Council understand the areas where provision of bus services is affecting people’s ability to access key destinations and activities.
The questionnaire focuses on ascertaining views on how best to provide supported bus services and can be completed as individuals or on behalf of an organisation. 
A link to the questionnaire will be available on the Council’s web site from 28 October 2019.  
 
Mearns and Coastal Healthy Living Network AGM
will be held on Wednesday 13th November at 11am in The Venue, Laurencekirk.  All clients, volunteers and interested members of the community are warmly invited to attend.

Book Week Scotland
This national celebration of reading will be running across various venues in Aberdeenshire from the 18th to the 23rd of November. Libraries throughout Scotland will be hosting authors to talk to readers and communities where audiences can meet their favourites and be inspired to read something different. This year the theme for Book Week Scotland is “Blether” and they have a fantastic line up of authors that includes Colin MacLachlan a Former SAS operator and star of Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins plus Paul Murton of the BBC’s Grand Tour of Scotland. Mearns & Coastal Volunteer Fair 
Not long until the Stonehaven Local Learning Partnership are hosting the Mearns & Coastal Volunteer Fair at Inverbervie Church Hall on Tuesday 12^th November.   
Targeting the coastal villages south of Stonehaven, the inland neighbourhood around Arbuthnott, and the organisations that operate in these areas, the purpose is to introduce those looking for volunteers with those who want to volunteer.
