Community Learning & Development Service: Fast Funding Opportunity

“Hello all,

There is an opportunity for constituted community groups in the Shire to apply for up to £2000 for opportunities that provide an educational experience for the people who volunteer with you or the people you serve.  There will be a quick turnaround on applications approved (within 2 weeks) and the money transferred to the group’s bank account soon after (a bank account is a must). This fund was predominantly for groups in the north of the shire but has been opened for consideration in central and south.

Ideas or opportunities may be:

·         Provision of training – First Aid, Hygiene, Cooking, specific training or learning in your area of interest etc etc

·         A fun educational experience – a visit somewhere for people you work with or serve, or bringing someone in to your service, or organising an event that will provide a learning opportunity of some kind

The application form is attached for you to have a look at. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any ideas and/or apply. 

The only other requirement is that you can provide:

                A copy of your organisation’s most recent accounts

                A copy of your organisation’s constitution or equivalent

Clubs in Crisis Fund
The Clubs in Crisis Fund aims to support sports clubs and youth organisations that deliver sport for development to recover from the pandemic’s impact, and continue their work to achieve social outcomes through sport.
Specifically, the fund is looking to support clubs and organisations that intentionally deliver wider social outcomes through sport. These outcomes must fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Developing Life Skills
  • Improving Mental Health
  • Reducing Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Developing Employability Skills
  • Building Stronger Communities

All funding for Round 3 must be spent by successful applicants by March 2022, and the closing date is 25th October.

Across the Grain 2021
Plans are being finalised as the Across the Grain festival returns for its 4th year! It will take place Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October 2021, for a contemporary celebration of traditional music and Doric culture in North-East Scotland. 
Live Life Aberdeenshire, artists, musicians, and partners are moving online for a weekend of digital events and presentations. From community projects to commissioned sound pieces, films and much more. All in celebration of Aberdeenshire’s distinctive Doric culture and its influences.

NESTRANS Travel Grant Schemes
Nestrans is the Transport Partnership for Aberdeen City and Shire.  Their purpose is to develop and deliver a long-term regional transport strategy and take forward strategic transport improvements that support and improve the economy, environment and quality of life across Aberdeen City and Shire.
Nestrans has two travel grant funds to support organisations and groups across the North East to implement sustainable travel initiatives. These aim to increase travel by public transport, cycling and walking, promote low emission vehicles and reducing the need to travel.

Dignity and the Right to Food – Responding to Food Insecurity
This workshop from Nourish Scotland and the Poverty Truth Community will look at how dignity and the human right to food can support sustainable solutions to food insecurity.

Together for our Planet
This new funding from the National Lottery Community Fund offers £1000 to £10,000 to support communities across the UK to take action on climate change. This could be around food, or the environment, or waste reduction, among others.
Application deadline – 5pm on 18 November 2021.

Age Scotland’s Dementia Training Project
Around 93,000 people in Scotland today are living with dementia and this number is forecast to increase over the next decade. Early diagnosis of the condition is crucial and can help prolong the quality of life for people living with dementia.
Funded by the Life Changes Trust and the Robertson Trust, Age Scotland’s dementia training team seeks to raise awareness of dementia, the signs and symptoms and how to be inclusive of people living with the condition.

Fire and Smoke Alarm Guidance
The law on fire alarms is changing. By February 2022, all homes in Scotland will be required to have interlinked fire alarms, meaning if one alarm goes off, they all go off. This will alert you to danger more quickly, no matter where you are in your home.
The new legislation requires all homes to have:

  • One smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes
  • One smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings
  • One heat alarm installed in the kitchen All alarms should be ceiling mounted and interlinked
  • Where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance, such as a boiler, fire (including open fires) and heater, a carbon monoxide detector is also required. This does not need to be linked to the fire alarms.

Meikle Carewe Wind Farm Community Fund – DEADLINE
The Meikle Carewe Wind Farm Community Fund is open until next Thursday, 30th September 2021.
Applications to the fund can be made from not-for-profit groups and organisations, based in the following Community Council areas:

  • Crathes, Drumoak and Durris
  • Newtonhill, Muchalls and Cammachmore
  • North Kincardine Rural
  • Portlethen and District
  • Stonehaven and District

Rural Communities Ideas into Action Fund
The Rural Communities Ideas into Action Fund (RCIA) is a £1.5 million investment from the Scottish Government to encourage and support innovative approaches to community-led local development in rural communities across Scotland. Two strands of funding are available — small grants for projects up to £3,000 and large grants for projects £3,001-£50,000.
Projects funded will contribute positively to local people and local priorities, helping rural communities to thrive through community-led initiatives.
Applications are welcomed from not-for-profit groups for capital and revenue expenditure for projects to be delivered by the end of March 2022.  Deadline 8thOctober.

FCC Scottish Action Fund
The fund offers funding to projects through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund (SLCF). It will consider applications across all types of projects included in the SLCF:
Land Reclamation (Object A): The reclamation, remediation, restoration or other operation on land to facilitate economic, social or environmental use.
Community Recycling (Object B): Community based recycling, re-use and waste prevention projects.
Public Amenities and Parks (Object C): To provide, maintain or improve a public park or other public amenity.
Biodiversity (Object D): The conservation or promotion of biological diversity through the provision, conservation, restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat or the maintenance or recovery of a species in its natural habitat.
Historic Buildings (Object E): The maintenance, repair or restoration of a building, other structure or a site of archaeological interest which is a place of religious worship, or a site of historic or architectural or archaeological interest and is open to the public.

Aberdeenshire Educational Trust Grants
Aberdeenshire Educational Trust Grants are available to help fund the cost of a pupil going on a school trip, students go onto further education, meaning college or university, or gain work experience, with the promotion of education in art, music or drama, educational experiments and research, educational enterprise schemes, maintain sports facilities and support of clubs.

Road Safety Trust
The Road Safety Trust is an independent grant-giving trust which supports projects and research that make UK roads safer for all road users – pedestrians, cyclists, mobility scooter users, car drivers, lorry and van drivers, and motorcyclists.
The main aim of the Small Grants Programme is to improve road safety at a local level. Eligible projects include pilots/trials, an expansion of successful trials across a new area, and/or the evaluation of existing interventions.

Pillar Kincardine – Women’s Health in Mind
Pillar Kincardine’s ten-week Women’s Health in Mind programme, starts on Thursday 23rd of September.
They will be meeting from 13:00 – 15:00 at the Stonehaven Community Centre.
Each week they will look at a different topic or theme and use art making to explore and generate discussion.

Advocacy North East
Advocacy North East is a charity that provides advocacy services within Aberdeen City and Shire.
They are rolling out a new advocacy service for any person that has substance misuse issues and may require assistance with Housing, Health or Social care. Substances can be any form of legal or illegal drugs and/or alcohol.
