*NEW* Fire and Smoke Alarm Guidance – by Feb 2022 The law on fire alarms is changing. By February 2022, all homes in Scotland will be required to have interlinked fire alarms, meaning if one alarm goes off, they all go off. This will alert you to danger more quickly, no matter where you are in your home.
The new legislation requires all homes to have:
- One smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes
- One smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings
- One heat alarm installed in the kitchen All alarms should be ceiling mounted and interlinked
- Where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance, such as a boiler, fire (including open fires) and heater, a carbon monoxide detector is also required. This does not need to be linked to the fire alarms.
Please view the guidance on the Scottish Government website which has recently been updated. |

Regular Testing for Everyone Everyone in Scotland is being encouraged to test themselves at home twice a week, as widespread Covid-19 testing rolls out nationwide. Called ‘lateral flow’ tests, you can order a pack of kits to be delivered to your home. You then follow the steps and record your results. The recommendation is that those undertaking the test should do so twice a week.
Read a bit more about the testing process. You can order a pack of seven home tests via the UK Government website. Remember this is for people with no symptoms. If you do develop symptoms, please isolate immediately and book a test via the NHS Inform website. |

The module should take approximately 60 minutes to complete and can be completed in stages rather than all at once if you prefer.
There is no cost and all you need to do is register with Scottish Disability Sport who will then send you an email with a second registration link for the actual eLearning site. You can then enrol on the course and go through at your own time and pace. Below are 6 easy steps on how to access this training.

5. The email will then provide a link to register on the Brightspace eLearning system. Click on the link, put in your details and ‘enrol’ on the Introduction to Inclusive Practice module (IIP).
6. If you have never used Brightspace before, choose New Learner where you can set up an eLearning account and password and this will take you to the start of your workshop. Other Sports Governing Bodies use this tool for eg CWPS so you may already be a member for another eLearning workshop you have attended, if so click Already Registered and you can add this workshop to your growing list of courses.
Remember you will have set up an account now in 2 places.
· Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) account. Bookmark this page and remember your password as here you will see all your training records and be able to access other training opportunities SDS have to offer.
· Brightspace Account. Here you will see your actual eLearning Introduction to Inclusive Practice (IIP) course. Bookmark this page and remember your password so you can go back and forward to this training whenever you like or just to remind yourself of your learning.
