As promised, here is the second Bulletin of this week. Full of information which we hope will be of interest to you. We’ll start with a KDP event happening in a couple of weeks’ time…
KDP Community Cash – Newtonhill
Local community groups are invited to give a five minute talk about their goals, what they are trying to achieve and why they need the grant to further their idea or project. One £300 grant will be awarded to the group voted for by the guests of the evening, which will be made up of the groups participating and members of the local community.
This event, for groups from the whole of Kincardine and Mearns, is on Tuesday 3rd December, and will be held at The Bettridge Centre, Newtonhill.
So, if you have a community group, charity or social enterprise that could benefit from an injection of cash and would like to take part in this event, please contact KDP at officesupport@kdp.scot or call 01569 763 246.

Community Capacity & Resilience Fund
SCVO are pleased to announce that Round 5 of the Community Capacity & Resilience Fund (CCRF) is now accepting applications.
CCRF gives local community based organisations the opportunity to access Scottish Government funding to deliver short term projects that help people mitigate the impact of welfare reform by providing them with the support and skills they need.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate:
- How their proposal will expand/develop the organisations capacity in order to meet demand relating to welfare reform
- How it will help bring organisations together in partnership to support people
- How it will develop people’s ability to prevent themselves from reaching crisis point
There are some key criteria, so please read the guidance notes before applying. The closing date for applications is 13th December 2019 at 5pm.
Carers Rights Day
Quarriers are hosting two Mindfulness sessions on Thursday 21st November at Lodge on the Loch, Aboyne, targeting those in the caring professions.

The King’s Fund – Cascading Leadership
Cascading Leadership provides a free opportunity for leaders working in health and care organisations, in the voluntary and community sector in the UK, to develop their leadership skills and receive practical support.
The programme offers free support, advice and training based on a model of peer-to-peer support. It is offering 64 places on this year’s programme. Successful applicants will be matched into pairs, with a consultant (an established charity leader), working with a partner (a leader who is seeking support).

This is a great opportunity to help your community and keep others safe in the cold winter months. Could you help with the clearing of snow from footways and the spreading of grit?

The Better Breaks programme
Up to £50,000 is available to fund a wide range of short breaks projects and activities. These can include breaks away (i.e. overnight stays, residential breaks), days out, and/or shorter regular activities and sessions. The activities can be for disabled children and young people (aged 20 and under), for their carers, or for families to enjoy together.
The programme is open until 21st November.

Scottish Mental Health First Aid: Young People
For those working/support or volunteering with 9 – 17 year olds, this is an evidence learning course for adults to provide initial support; in a crisis and non-crisis situation.
This 14-hour training course is designed to increase understanding of mental health and how it affects young people.
The Cost is £75 per participant for the 14 hour programme (including 1 day training).

Trusthouse Charitable Trust
Trusthouse Charitable Trust offers grants for running costs or one-off capital costs to charities and not-for-profit organisations. Their overarching themes are Rural Issues and Urban Deprivation, and within these themes, they are interested in community support; arts, education and heritage; and community centres and village halls.
