Aberdeenshire Third Sector Week 15-19 November 2021
Aberdeenshire Third Sector Strategy Group (ATSSG) is seeking content for the Aberdeenshire Third Sector Week 2021.
As last year, this will be an online event offering Third Sector Organisations a platform to shout about the value of the work they do.
This year’s theme will be Recovery and Building Back Better, and they are keen to share your stories around key areas including:
- Tackling issues such as Poverty, Loneliness and Isolation, Mental Health and Mental Wellbeing
- Third Sector Employment, Careers and Volunteering Opportunities
- Adapting and Thriving
If you have any film footage, presentations, or other online content that can be included during Third Sector Week, please pass these to KDP and we will be happy to share them with ATSSG.
Here’s a short reminder of just some of the great pieces of information they shared last year!
The National Emergencies Trust’s Local Action Fund
This match fund of up to £10,000 per project has been launched by the National Emergencies Trust as part of its Coronavirus Appeal. It offers support to voluntary and community organisations by helping them to counter financial challenges created by the pandemic, including the inability to fundraise in the usual ways, reductions in staff and volunteers, and increased demand on their services.
To receive match funding, the following conditions must all be met:
- Your project must raise funds from at least 25 unique supporters within four weeks.
- For every donation made towards your project we’ll match it up to £250, so if your project receives a donation of £20 we’ll add another £20, If your project receives a donation of £500 then you’ll receive an additional £250.
- Only one donation per supporter will be matched (we will not provide match funding where a supporter is deemed to have made multiple donations).
- If your project is an “all or nothing project” your project must reach its target.

Scottish Recovery Network – What makes Engagement Meaningful?
The Scottish Recovery Network want Scotland to be a place where people with lived experience are meaningfully involved in the design and delivery of mental health support and strategies.
They believe that when you invite people to contribute their ideas and time the whole focus should be on finding out and acting on what is important to them. Join them for an online discussion to explore what makes engagement with people with lived experience meaningful.

Postcode Dream Fund
The Dream Fund gives organisations the chance to deliver the project they have always dreamed of, but never had the opportunity to bring to life.
They ask charitable organisations across the UK to think big, be ambitious and collaborate with other not-for-profit partners to deliver their dream project. Applications must come from a partnership of at least two charitable organisations, one of which will be designated as the lead.
The focus of this year’s Dream Fund will be projects that are looking to deliver systemic change in the following funding categories:
- Environment/conservation
- Social inequality
- Pandemic recovery
Applications close at 5:30pm on 1 November 2021.

Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year
Voting has now opened for the public to have their say on who will be crowned this year’s ‘Scottish Men’s Shed of the Year’ 2021.
The Scottish Men’s Sheds Association (SMSA) has announced the top five Scottish Sheds, shortlisted by the SMSA’s Board of Trustees, for this prestigious award that recognises and rewards the contribution and impact that they make to society.
The five finalists are Aboyne & District Men’s Shed, Dumfries Men’s Shed, Dunoon Men’s Shed, Stonehaven & District Men’s Shed and Westhill & District Men’s Shed.

Shared Care Scotland – Better Breaks
The Better Breaks programme has reopened for applications, providing 12-month grants to third sector organisations to develop and deliver short breaks projects and services for disabled children and young people, and their carers.
Short breaks projects and activities can include breaks away, days out, and/or shorter sessions. Breaks should:
- increase opportunities for disabled children and young people to engage in activities they enjoy
- give carers a break from their caring role
- improve wellbeing for all involved.
Applications close at 5pm on Thursday 18th November 2021.

MyParkScotland
If you want to raise funds for your park or greenspace project, then MyParkScotland want to hear from you.
Every project listed on the MyParkScotland crowdfunding page also has the opportunity to raise funds through a unique text code. People can donate from £1 to £20 via text, a super simple way for donors to easily support your project.

Aberdeenshire Council – Educational Funding
Constituted community groups in the Shire can apply for up to £2000 for opportunities that provide an educational experience for their volunteers or the people they serve.
Ideas or opportunities may be:
- Provision of training – First Aid, Hygiene, Cooking, specific training or learning in your area of interest etc etc
- A fun educational experience – a visit somewhere for people you work with or serve, or bringing someone into your service, or organising an event that will provide a learning opportunity of some kind
