Tesco Newtonhill are looking for local groups to apply for their “Bags of Help” Fund.  Amazingly, they have been undersubscribed, so are actively looking to encourage groups in South Aberdeenshire to contact them.  Groups out with Newtonhill are encouraged to apply also.

Constituted groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations can apply for funding of between £1000 – £4000 for projects that brings benefits to the community.

Eligible projects include but are not limited to activity in outdoor spaces; purchase of items such as sports kits, camping equipment or specialised medical equipment; improvements to community buildings; seasonal events, volunteer expenses and training.

Following a public vote in Tesco stores every 2 months, three projects in each of the local stores areas will receive grants.

Service 105 Banchory – Rickarton – Stonehaven : Monday & Thursday inter-peak service : There are no alternatives available without changing buses in Aberdeen.  Surveys indicate that there is 1 regular bus passenger from Rickarton, with the remainder (average 4 passengers per journey) being occasional users or tourists travelling in both directions between Banchory & Stonehaven.

Service 108 Muchalls – Chapelton P&C : Tuesday and Thursday schooldays inter-peak return journey :  There is an average of 1 passanger per journey and Muchalls has an alternative Aberdeenshire A2B dial-a-bus service to/from Newtonhill and Portlethen.

Service 103 Cookney – Aberdeen : Monday to Friday peak return journey :  There is an average of less than 2 passengers per journey and regrettably there are no alternatives at peak times.

Service 204 Banchory/Strachan – Aberdeen : Tuesday and Friday inter-peak return journey withdrawn but weekday peak return journey retained.

Excluding those who travel between Banchory and Aberdeen, there is an average of three passengers per day, originating in Durris, Blairs and Kirkton of Maryculter.  Whilst there are no alternatives available to/from Aberdeen, there are Aberdeenshire A2B dial-a-bus services operating between Durris/Kirkton of Maryculter and Portlethen and between Durris and Banchory.

Owing to AWPR bridge construction and drainage works, the closure of the C5K Greens of Crynoch (from Greens of Crynoch to the junction with U66K) Maryculter,  will be extended for a further period of 4 weeks (commencing 26th March 2018).

In light of the pipeline leakage during the month of December, we have invited representatives from INEOS to present at our next meeting.  This will allow us, the Community, to understand why the leakage happened and what measures have been undertaken to ensure the area is safe.

Everyone is welcome on Monday 19th March at Lairhillock School at 7.30pm with our ordinary meeting taking place from around 8pm.
