Info on St John Scotland’s Community Defibrillator Schemes

Dear Community Council Secretary/ Contact,

As our Nation emerges from the Coronavirus Levels restrictions to a new normal we can look forward to an increase in various activities including more people being out and about more of the time. Our National Health Service is already seeing a steady increase in non-Covid illnesses. These have been there all the time even if we have heard little of them publicly.

However, we are all aware that the Danish footballer, Christian Erikson’s, life was saved by the prompt use of CPR and the immediate availability of a defibrillator during the Euro 2020 competition. Anyone of any age, at any time of the day or night may without any warning need the same emergency interventions.

Is your community prepared? Do you have any defibrillators locally? Are they available 24/7 or in premises closed at night or even in a staff drawer? Are there people locally who know basic CPR?

St John Scotland is a registered Scottish charity dedicated to saving and enhancing life. We can help you with our subsidised schemes to provide such 24/7 defibrillators. Even if you have ones that are not immediately available 24/7 we may be able to help you make them so.

One of the defibrillators we assisted with providing within Aberdeen City was used only a few weeks ago.
