MATTERS ARISING

New Lairhillock School – about 14 names, suggested mainly by pupils, for the school have been put forward for selection by the Council.

Web site – Up to date.

Roads – Banchory-Devenick crossroads- a pole has been erected but no sign. Banchory-Devenick School had also had poles erected.

We have received prior notice of extended roadworks (80 weeks) between Portlethen and Charleston , to accommodate the 800 houses to be built at Schoolhill. Anexhibition of the work to be done is to be held at ASDA Portlethen from May 22nd. Council states that two lanes will be open at peaks to avoid previous problems of hold-ups.

Western Peripheral RouteThere was a successful meeting at the International School last Tuesday. Roadsense group are to meet with T Scott – We should write to all MSPs & MEPs for North East on various points:  to clarify costs, anger of local residents, entry to peoples land, roads will not negate the problem of bottle-necks. Bill asked if there were any new developments on traffic flows and costs etc. We want to be sure of our facts. Mike felt we should write regularly on separate issues – put up a constant stream of correspondence. Sandy suggested regular short emails and blind copies so that each recipient thinks it is personal to them. Green MSPs had not yet signed up against AWPR.

Bill felt that Roadsense should be reminded to make sure of their facts. Rob felt we should stress that residents are very angry. George suggested finding out cost of Inverurie by-pass for comparison.

Bill had researched several road schemes on the internet and all had ended up over budget.

Mike will compose a letter and circulate for discussion.

Bill asked if if we had been granted an extension on the wildlife survey, which he feels we should prepare in great detail. Robert to write to Babtie querying lack of reply to the Philip’s original and seek confirmation of extension.

Sally complained about behaviour of AWPR teams parking in inconvenient and dangerous places. Robert will write to AWPR cc to Tavish Scott.

Mike S said there was a fundamental flaw in the new road plan , the reason for the road has not been thought through, as clearly this road will not solve Bridge of Dee problems or congestion in the city.
