MINUTES of the meeting of 15 May were approved subject to the correct spelling of Bob McKinney’s name.

1.             MATTERS ARISING

New Lairhillock School – School is to be called The Lairhillock School (to which the School Board has objected). We have not yet had a response to the question of road lighting raised at last meeting.

Web site – Now has link to Local Government Boundaries Commission Maps, and Ward members.

Roads – Banchory-Devenick crossroads and School both now have electronic signs operating.

Duncan said that they seemed to be effective for a few days but then car drivers ignored them. He asked why they could not have a 40mph speed limit there, as recently installed at Leylodge by Kintore on the B977. We would write to the new Roads officer at Stonehaven, and should involve the Police, there is a new Sergeant at Stonehaven. There is also a hedge obstructing visibility, which should be trimmed by the owner. Also the carriageway edge at North Burnside is still not repaired, we will write again to the Council on both matters. K Witte mentioned that the catseyes had been removed from the B979 from Skinners farm to the South Deeside road. Not sure but probably ready for tar and top dressing chippings. Suggested that the list of roads in our area due to be dressed/patched should be on our website.

Western Peripheral Route -

A new map had been issued excluding some rights of way, as owners had questioned accuracy. Bill mentioned that the Rights of Way Society were waiting for test cases to go through courts. Bill to write.

Discussed that a proper Environmental Impact Assessment would take a year which is unlikely to happen by the time Line Orders are published. Philip wants to make a response to the new narrower corridor and Babtie’s request for our comments as a Community Council querying exactly how wide the corridor should be within which Jacobs Babtie seeks comments and asking exactly what the criteria for letters of comment. Philip suggested that we should repeat much of previous letter & ask same questions again. Philip and Secretary to write. RoadSense to be told of this request. Rob questioned whether we had the extension requested on submission of comments. Philip said that AWPR team see no point in talking to Road Sense. Sally felt that the officials should face the public. Philip suggested that we invite a member of the AWPR team to our meeting, to air specific list of questions from all our letters and replies. Secretary to contact Cliff Buchan sending list of topics. (precedent of Peterculter meeting with Cliff Buchan to be quoted). Bill mentioned that the ‘Team’ have no accountability to us. Mike asked whether anyone knew if the AWPR team were logging complaints. No-one was aware of any such process and therefore any correspondence should be copied to all concerned.

Mike Rumbles MSP has been appointed new Transport spokesman, will this change his view on ‘Fast Link’?

South Deeside View – Next issue September.
